01 / Context & challenge

A specific problem.
A considered starting point.

Ledgerdune Finance Cloud is a fictional finance workspace. Its scenario screens use different number formats, competing chart colours and inconsistent filters. Finance managers cannot easily tell whether a chart shows collected cash or invoiced revenue, and engineers repeatedly rebuild the same table interactions.

02 / The objectives

What the concept sets out to improve.

Define reliable financial presentation patterns, reduce component duplication and make filtered, empty and stale data states explicit.

03 / Scope & handover

Make the work tangible.

02 / Proposed experience specification · visual interpretation
04 / Proposed implementation

The thinking behind the experience.

01

The audit inventoried navigation, tables, charts, filters and feedback patterns. Components were prioritised by frequency and operational risk rather than visual novelty.

02

Tokens defined type, spacing, neutral colours, semantic states and chart series. Financial cards showed currency, period and basis so invoiced and collected values were not interchangeable.

03

Table and chart patterns specified loading, partial data, no access and stale refresh states. RTL layouts received deliberate alignment and icon direction review.

04

The contribution model assigned component ownership, version notes and review criteria. Handoff paired each component with usage guidance and a reference implementation acceptance checklist.

Proposed stack / workflow

Suggested workflow: Figma variables and components, Storybook for a future coded library and documented design to code mapping.

05 / Evaluation scenario

Define the measures.
Understand the limits.

Illustrative results · not measured client performance

Invented before-and-after scenario values from the concept brief. They are not benchmarks, promises or forecasts for a new engagement.

Median comparable screen design time12 hours7 hours
Acceptance issues across 10 handoff screens2912

Measurement method & limitations

The component audit groups visually and behaviourally equivalent patterns. Design time compares similar screens by the same team. Handoff issues use a fixed checklist and exclude unrelated backend defects.

A design library alone does not establish a production code library. Financial data in generated visuals must be labelled sample and cannot be presented as client accounts.

Have something more specific in mind? We are happy to talk through your goals, constraints and next steps.

How does a design system speed up our engineering team?
By providing pre-built, standardized UI components and tokens, your engineers stop wasting time designing buttons or guessing paddings. They simply plug in existing components, shipping features in half the time.
Can this design system support future feature additions?
Yes. Our atomic component systems are built to scale. As your SaaS platform expands, your team can easily assemble new screens using the established component library.
